Application Switcher is a CopyPaste feature that lets you quickly switch (toggle) between running applications using a hot key combination.
Once it is turned on in the preferences, holding down a hot key combination that you choose in the CopyPaste preferences brings up a menu listing all the running applications. To switch applications, simply select the desired application with the mouse, tab, or arrow keys and release the hot keys. Repeating the hot key combination cycles through the open applications.
Below the icon of the selected application in the Application Switcher menu you will find info about the "Size" of the application’s allocated memory (You set this in the “File -> Get Info -> Memory” window) and the ”Free” or unused part of this allocated memory. This provides finer detail than available from “Apple Menu -> About This Computer.”
The following commands work while the Application Switcher menu is on the screen:
1. "Q" quits a program via Apple Events. You can quit "background only" processes and even the Finder to free memory by typing "Q"
2. "I" provides process information (for programmers)
3. "H" hides all windows of other programs. This is permanent until you type "H" again later. (you can set this in the preferences as well)
4. "A" (show All) shows background processes along with the other programs.
If you choose "ctrl" as your hot key, then typing "I" will not work: this is because the MacOS interprets ctrl + I as the tab key, which only lets you cycle forward.
